Hope When Trouble Comes

At Tuesday morning growth group, the question was raised, "When trouble comes, and it will, where is your hope?"  What do we hold onto, what is our anchor, what gets us through that disaster, the thing that holds us even when we let go. Louie Giglio Hope DVD takes us to John 16:33, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world." God sent HIS son, Jesus to overcome the world, just let that sink in for a second.  It's not what we've done that gets us to heaven, it's not figuring out all the right answers that solves our problems, Jesus came to earth, died on the cross and arose to heaven.  This world and all its evil did not conquer Jesus, Jesus is alive and the cross is the centerpiece of the story of God.  It is the core of the Christian journey.  It's not just something in the past when we "did our business" with God.  The cross is everything.  God proved his love there.

What does the cross tell us?  Jesus has been there.  He's the only person who really knows what we're going through.  The cross is proof that He doesn't always change the circumstances but he always has a purpose.  His love will always be an anchor for us.  The hope in trouble is the cross of Jesus Christ.

Join us next Tuesday for the 4th and final DVD in this series by Louie Giglio.  Meet 9AM at the Koinonia Cafe at Brush Prairie Church, all women are welcome, childcare provided.
