Belong...Views on Spirituality
Tuesday morning growth group, we are digging deeper into knowing more of what God is calling us to loving our neighbors. This week we talked about compassion. What is compassion? The word "compassion" is formed from two Latin words: pati meaning "tosuffer" and com meaning "together" or "with." Compassion has within it a sense of suffering. It costs us to love people. It is not easy, but it is what the Lord has called us to do.
Who do we need to show compassion to? Who do we need to be a friend to? Who do we need to just listen to? Who do we need to learn about, give some love to, offer mercy to, or simply notice with a smile? Inviting our Neighbors into real friendship speaks as much about our intentions as it does their worth. Cultivating friendship indicates we are willing to take time and make time for them. Jesus led by example in the area of friendship. Jesus made friends. Indeed, He called us friends. We will help others know they belong when we follow in Jesus' footsteps.
See you next Tuesday as we dive into Lesson 3, loving our neighbors as ourselves...to connect with them.
Videos compliment of Stonecroft Ministries, they are also available on their website.
