Sloppy Joe's and Shepherd's Door

"Dessert first!" is our motto at the Tuesday morning Bible study or at least it should be. And last Tuesday was no exception when we headed down for some sweet interaction with the women at Shepherd's Door.

A handful of us accepted an invitation to prepare lunch in a  spic and span kitchen with a pantry to dream over and a bunch of well-trained co-chefs, also known as the Shepherd's Door residence helping us with everything we needed to get our jobs done and still get all their important jobs done, like feeding the kids.

We brought buckets of meat, loads of buns, bags of seasonings, and amazingly more desserts than we could possible be able to eat. Around 10 am we were busy stirring, ripping, sweating and getting to know some amazing gals.

11:30 The delicious aromas floated through the halls, beckoning the the women to join in the feast.

After all were served, we dished up our own dishes, loaded with desserts of course and headed out to enjoy a meal with the women. Their tables our tables, their food our food, their conversation our conversation. They welcomed us once again into their home and we thank them for their gracious hospitality and an opportunity to connect. And as their sign says in their kitchen, we say it back to them...
