Hello friends,
I wanted to update you on some details regarding our outreach to Shepherd's Door women's shelter in Portland. As you know, we are collecting needed items for the winter months, especially. There are two ways that you can donate:
1) Following is a list of general items that are needed: Clothing - Jeans / Pants, hooded sweatshirts / sweaters, warm socks, gloves, scarves and hats (all items should be new or in good used condition) Toiletries - women's products are especially needed Kitchen - aprons, dish towels and cloths Other - blankets are always a good item to donate, laundry baskets
2) Many of the women have specific wish lists for Christmas. You can visit the following web site to register and sign up to fulfill some of the specific wishes: http://www.portlandrescuemission.org/end-homelessness/donate-items/christmas-wish-list/ Just follow the directions on the site. Make sure to leave items unwrapped and clearly marked with the gift ID that is indicated on the web site.
You may bring all of your items to BPBC where we will be collecting them through the evening of our Christmas Dessert, Saturday, December 11. I've been told that any items that are donated above and beyond Shepherd's Door immediate needs are turned over to Portland Rescue Mission's ministry to homeless women who are still on the street. What a vital ministry! These women are in desperate need of a loving touch, and we can have a part of that. Thank you so much for helping to bring a lifeline to many of these women and their children.
Please remember to sign up for the Christmas Dessert in the foyer on Sunday. Again, the date for the dessert is Saturday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the auditorium. Let's be praying for one another, that we'll have the courage to ask a friend, a family member, a neighbor, or maybe someone we met in the grocery store. The Lord knows who is ready to hear and receive His truth. Let's be faithful to plant seeds. Please also be in prayer that all details will fall into place well and that our speaker, Janice Mathers, will be well and that the Lord will move powerfully through her.Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. I am truly thankful for all of you!
Blessings to you,Linda
